About this path
Most cloud breaches are not exotic — they are a public bucket, a leaked key, an over-broad policy. This path builds the instincts to find and exploit those everyday misconfigurations against a real, self-contained S3-compatible object store, so you learn the attack and the fix at the same time. It is the starting point for cloud penetration testing and cloud security engineering.
Who should start here
Developers, cloud engineers, and pentesters who want practical, hands-on cloud attack experience without touching a real account.
Prerequisites
Basic cloud / object-storage concepts (buckets, objects, access keys, IAM policies) and any S3 client (AWS CLI, mc, or boto3). No real cloud account needed.
What you will be able to do
- Enumerate and read misconfigured public storage anonymously
- Spot secrets published by mistake in backups and config exports
- Use leaked keys with SigV4 authentication
- Exploit over-privileged IAM policies to reach restricted data
- Explain the fix for each misconfiguration you exploit
